Let an AI agent book the table: it does the legwork, you make the final tap
Ask the AI agent on your phone to book a table. It opens the real booking site, gets your table held, then hands over for your final tap.
Booking a table should take ten seconds. In practice it's a small chore: open the site, find the restaurant, pick a date, pick a time, choose the party size, then work through the pages.
With Human in the Loop (HITL), you hand that chore to an AI agent on your phone. It does the legwork. You make the final tap.
What you need
- The HITL app on iPhone or Android. It's in public beta.
- A restaurant (or cinema, or flight) in mind.
- About thirty seconds of your attention, at the end.
Step 1: Just ask
Open your Companion (the agent every HITL user starts with) and say what you want, in plain words:
Book me a table for 2 at Jake's Famous Crawfish in Portland this Saturday at 7:30pm on OpenTable. Get everything ready and hand it to me for the final step.
Say which booking site you use, or let your agent find the restaurant's booking page.
Step 2: Your agent opens the site and does the hard part
You approve one card so the agent can open the site. It then works in a real browser on your phone, and you can tap the browser pill in the chat to watch it live:
- it goes to the restaurant's booking page;
- it sets your date, time and party size;
- it gets through to the final details step, where the site holds the table for you.
Step 3: It hands over for the final tap
When the booking is ready, the browser pill turns into an amber Waiting on you capsule. Tap it and the browser is yours, on the exact page: restaurant, date, time and party size all set, and the table on hold.

Add the details the site asks for (your name and phone number), tap confirm, and you're booked. It's the same hand-off for anything that needs you: a login, a "prove you're human" check, or a payment.
Step 4: Back to the chat
Go back to the chat and your agent carries on. Ask it to add the booking to your calendar, or to remind you the day before.
Why not just use the booking site yourself?
You can, and the agent uses that same site. The difference is who does the tedious part. Instead of you clicking through dates, times and pages, your agent gets you to the final step while you get on with your day, and you spend your attention on the one moment that needs a human: saying yes.
Try it on other bookings
- Cinema: "Two tickets for Friday's 8pm showing at my local cinema, seats together near the middle."
- Flights: "Find the cheapest direct flight to Lisbon on the 14th, back on the 18th, and get it to the payment page."
- Appointments: "Find a haircut slot this week after 5pm."

Frequently asked questions
- Does the agent complete the booking or payment for me?
- No. It does the legwork of getting to the right page with your table held, then hands the browser over to you at the final step. You add your details and make the last tap yourself.
- Which sites does it work with?
- It uses a real browser on your phone, so it works with the booking sites you already use: restaurants, cinemas, flights and more. If a site asks you to log in or prove you're human, it hands over to you for that step too.
- Can I watch what it's doing?
- Yes. Tap the browser pill in the chat to watch it live as it navigates, or let it run in the background and come back when it needs you.
- What happens after I confirm?
- Go back to the chat and carry on. For example, ask your agent to add the booking to your calendar.
- How do I get HITL?
- HITL is in public beta on iPhone (TestFlight) and Android (Google Play testing). Join from the download page.
